That’s a Wrap!

That time of the year has come yet again– our last rental day of the 2017 season. We had a fantastic run this year and are lucky to have been able to meet so many wonderful people from Chicago and all over the world. Pulling the boats out of the water at the end of each season is always bittersweet. We want to thank everyone that rented with us in 2017, whether it was your first or fifth time.

Our Charity Boat, Mighty Marie.

Each year we donate 10% of the profits from our charity boat, the Mighty Marie. Since 2015 our nonprofit of choice has been Friends of the Chicago River. They are an organization committed to the improved and continued cleanliness and health of the Chicago River and its ecosystems. They are a great partner for us as each boat in our fleet is fully electric and certified zero emissions.

This year we were thrilled to be able to donate over $7,000 to ‘Friends’ from Mighty Marie. On top of that, our management team attended their 2017 Big Fish Ball which is the biggest fundraising event of the year for the organization and also a genuinely fun evening that we would recommend anyone to check out.

We also tested out some new “Cruise for a Cause” events where we donated a portion of rental sales during a given period of time to a nonprofit/charity organization. For World Rivers Day in September, we donated 25% of our rental profits to Friends of the Chicago River and were able to raise an additional $1,660 in just one day!

Again, big thanks to everyone who came out and rented with us this year. We will be offering our electric boat rentals on the river for another great season come Spring 2018 and hope to see you out on the water! Keep an eye out for more unique community events on both the river and the Riverwalk in the coming year.

Happy Holidays!
